Leicester City, like the other clubs relegated from the Premier League alongside them, will almost certainly find that their roster at the start of the 2023/24 Championship season is vastly different from the one that concluded the 2022/23 season in the English top flight.
Whoever takes over as manager of the Foxes will have their work cut out to get them back on track, and with finances a factor, the board may be wise to ensure that first-team management and recruitment are looking at talented free transfers as well as bargain signings that may be available.
To that aim, the six players listed below might be solid reinforcements to their bid for immediate promotion back to the promised land.
Mr. Phil Jones
If the Foxes are searching for experience, they don’t have to look much farther than Phil Jones. He’s a guy with a lot to show, and he could be a good investment for at least a season.
An attacker with quick feet who has to improve in front of goal. His finishing wasn’t great – nine goals in 42 appearances across all competitions, according to WhoScored – but his link-up play is excellent, and if the team can get him from Rotherham, they can work on his last ball.
Butland, Jack
Jack Butland, 30, has plenty of years left in his goalkeeping career and would undoubtedly leap at the chance to join the Midlands.
