Steve Cooper obsession with ‘poor’ star will cost him his job and see Leicester City relegated

Leicester City were beaten 3-1 by Nottingham Forest on Friday with one player costing Steve Cooper yet again.

After completing an impressive comeback against Southampton in their previous Premier League fixture, Leicester City likely fancied their chance of making it three wins from three on Friday.

Steve Cooper should be given some credit for his decisions to start Harry Winks and Abdul Fatawu vs Nottingham Forest as the pair both deserved a chance following their roles in the Saints’ victory.

However, when all was said and done at the King Power Stadium, Leicester City lost 3-1 to Nottingham Forest.

A Jamie Vardy equaliser in the first half suggested Leicester were on course for another big comeback after Ryan Yates put the away side 1-0 up inside the opening 10 minutes.

Wout Faes was dismal vs Nottingham Forest and played an unwanted role in Chris Wood scoring the winner.

James Justin was ‘poor’ for Leicester City vs Nottingham Forest

While Faes did not cover himself in glory, another Leicester star was once again far from his best against Nuno Espirito Santo’s men.

The man in question was James Justin, who was moved into the left-back role with Ricardo Pereira handed a rare start on the right of the back-four.

As has often been the case this season, however, Justin struggled against Forest with Leicestershire Live labelling him ‘very poor’ in their player ratings.

They wrote: “It was a really poor attempt at a clearance for the Yates opener and he was punished for it. Defensively, he wasn’t too shabby after that, but when he moved, he wasn’t at all effective. 5”

James Justin will cost Steve Cooper his Leicester City job after Nottingham Forest

Fans will have been very pleased to see Pereira given his first Premier League start of the season against Nottingham Forest.

But they will probably have been left baffled by the fact Cooper opted to keep Justin in the eleven and move him into the opposite full-back role.

Justin was poor for Leicester vs Southampton last weekend and once again made an error leading to a goal on Friday evening.

Why the Leicester manager continues to start the struggling full-back every game is pretty perplexing.

And with Justin currently costing Leicester at least one goal a game at present, Cooper is now in danger of losing his job and Leicester may even end up being relegated if the manager continues to start the Englishman in every clash.
