After two straight wins following the FIFA international break, Leeds United faced disappointment with a scoreless draw against Bristol City on Saturday at Ashton Gate Stadium.

Leeds United had secured a 2-0 victory over Sheffield United and a 2-1 win against Watford, both at Elland Road. With this positive momentum, Daniel Farke and his team aimed to carry it into their away match against mid-table Bristol City.

In the first half, Leeds United created eight shots, while Bristol City managed three, leading to a scoreless halftime. In the second half, Leeds United increased their efforts with nine shots, but Bristol City could only muster one. Despite their dominance in chances, neither team could find the back of the net.

Manor Solomon receives criticism for form against Bristol City

Manager Daniel Farke tapped Manor Solomon to play 20 minutes in the scoreless draw and provide an offensive spark off the bench, but the Tottenham Hotspur loanee couldn’t help the Whites find the back of the net.

Speaking on BBC Radio Leeds post-match, Jon Newsome believes Solomon looked completely ‘clueless’ when he came onto the field.

“I think you would have taken that [seven points],” Newsome said. “Obviously, you would have liked nine, but I think you would have taken that, most definitely. But what I was a little bit disappointed about today was when he put the subs on.

“They didn’t have a positive effect. Solomon down this left-hand-side, he looked a little bit clueless and couldn’t get into the game. Mateo Joseph’s header, he should have done better. A lot of the time Daniel Farke puts a substitution on they have a real positive effect, but I don’t think that happened today.”

The lone point came at a cost for Leeds United as right-back Jayden Bogle will miss the next match after receiving a one-game suspension for a foul on substitute Sinclair Armstrong in the 67th minute. This yellow card marked Bogle’s fifth of the season, ruling him out for the game against Plymouth Argyle.

Sam Byram will likely switch to the left when Firpo returns from his ban this weekend. Byram put in a solid and dependable performance at Bristol City, so he should handle the transition smoothly.
