Last summer, the 26-year-old was permitted to leave Old Trafford and join Forest on a season-long loan contract in order to obtain regular first-team play.
Henderson made a total of 20 games in all competitions for Steve Cooper’s side until his 2022-23 season was cut short in January due to a thigh injury.
As a result of Henderson’s injury, Keylor Navas was signed on a short-term loan from Paris Saint-Germain during the winter window, and he helped the Tricky Trees avoid relegation from the Premier League.
However, the 36-year-old is anticipated to return to the French champions and look for other opportunities.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Forest and Manchester United are in advanced talks to sign Henderson on a permanent basis, with terms “almost agreed” on the player side.
However, Romano adds that the Red Devils will not allow Henderson to leave until the future of David de Gea is determined.
United’s current number one’s contract is set to expire at the end of this month, although he has often stated his wish to stay at Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag recently announced that the Spaniard will continue at United next season, although no new contract conditions have been agreed upon between the player and the club.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are said to be scouring the market for a new goalkeeper, with Porto shot-stopper Diogo Costa thought to be high on their list of possible targets.
The 23-year-old Portugal international has established himself as an important player for both club and country, and United are reportedly willing to meet his contract’s £65 million release clause.
Nonetheless, Costa recently dismissed rumors of a summer move to Old Trafford and reaffirmed his intention to stay at Porto.
Brentford’s David Raya, Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez, Everton’s Jordan Pickford, and Inter Milan’s Andre Onana have all been linked with a summer move to Manchester United.
