Earlier this month, Florian Plettenberg from Sky Sports Germany reported that Eintracht Frankfurt are looking to secure Rasmus Kristensen on a permanent deal. Additionally, a former player has suggested that the defender may not have a future at Elland Road.
Kristensen signed a five-year contract with Leeds United on June 8, 2022, for a fee of around £10 million, officially joining the team on July 1, 2022. However, since the Whites was relegated from the Premier League after the 2022-23 season, he hasn’t played for the club.
The Danish defender has spent time on loan at two different clubs, with one of them now seemingly ready to make his move permanent. Last season, Kristensen played for AS Roma, making 31 appearances in all competitions, scoring once and providing two assists. His time at the Serie A club was short, and he has since returned to Leeds United.
Rasmus Kristensen suffers an injury with Frankfurt
Kristensen seemed to be having a great time on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt this season, but he has now picked up a muscle injury that might sideline him for a while.
Frankfurter Rundschau reports that Kristensen was seen clutching his hamstring and hobbling around the pitch, raising concerns about a possible “serious” injury.
“Eintracht Frankfurt has to accept a serious setback,” the outlet noted. “In the Bundesliga game against the 1. FC Union Berlin had to right-back Rasmus Kristensen already in the 38th. minute due to injury. In a defensive action, the newcomer suffered a muscle injury in the left back of the thigh.”
The injury is the latest concern that the Leeds United loanee is having to possibly stay with the German club permanently or have another club swoop in for a potential transfer.
In their 1-0 win over RFS on Thursday night, Kristensen was criticized by the Frankfurter Rundschau, who said: “Rasmus Kristensen: So-So. Often chose to go forward, hardly challenged at the back either. But without a real plan, far too many easy passing errors.”
Though Frankfurt and Leeds have an agreement to sign Kristensen at the end of the year, there is a fear they may try to reduce the agreed-upon fee, and performances like that mean Leeds could be hit with a financial blow, as per Leeds United News.
