Kaizer Chiefs are linked with a goalscoring machine.
Former La Liga player – now Al-Duhail poacher – Michael Olunga seems to have a knack for goal, scoring 192 goals in his 255-game career.
A menace in the box, the prolific 30-year-old striker boasts a tall frame (6ft 3), but will cost AmaKhosi around R114 million, which seems far-fetched for a struggling side that signed seven players over the winter.
Olunga inbound?
Olunga would be the ultimate signing for Nasreddine Nabi who has been public about ‘needing strikers’, telling FARPost, “Our squad has a lot of quality players. But I don’t think this is going to be the final squad. We are working on getting new players,”
“A big club like Kaizer Chiefs needs a high level of quality in all lines: in defence, middle and attack. You know it’s easier to look for a defender than a striker.
“If you need top players, you need to take your time. We continue with my staff and the committee to look for players,” he added.
“So, you would need time to work hard to profile players. We work together to profile players in defence as I don’t have this opportunity for attack.
“We will continue with my staff committee to look. I need the strikers, and maybe if we have the wingers.”
Orlando Pirates to loose star power?
It seems Orlando Pirates record start to the campaign is being noticed with five players being monitored by various European clubs.
Belgium pro league side Standard Liege are rumoured to be interested in Monnapule Saleng and Mohau Nkota, while Evidence Makgopa, Tshegofatso Mabasa and Relebohile Mofokeng are also being watched from abroad.
With Orlando Pirates fighting for the title, it’s unlikely that all five will head in the summer, but the majority could leave once the season concludes.
Mofokeng’s former coach Mandla Qhogi believes he should be in Europe, saying, “For me, it will be a good time for him (Mofokeng) to go overseas. It is the right time and there are things that he would learn if he were to move now at this stage of his career. The more we keep him this side it could mean that we are delaying him. He is 20, and I think it is the right time for him to move if he has to be sold overseas.”
