On-loan Blues centre-half Elkan Baggott returned to action following his ankle injury as Blackpool were beaten 8-7 on penalties by Liverpool’s U21s following a 0-0 draw at Bloomfield Road in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy last night.
Baggott, 22, who has been out of action since the end of August, played the first 45 minutes for the Seasiders.
“It’s been frustrating for him, picking up an injury and being out for so long,” his former Town teammate Richard Keogh, now a Blackpool first-team coach, told the Tangerines’ club site.
“He’s worked really hard to get back to where he is now. We pencilled him in to get 45 minutes in this game, so for him to get through that is really good.
“I thought he performed well and was solid. He will probably say he was a little bit rusty but that is natural.”
Elsewhere, academy youngster Osman Foyo, 20, continued his excellent loan spell with National League South Chelmsford City on Tuesday when he netted a last-gasp 30-yard leveller to secure a 1-1 draw at St Albans.
Midfielder or striker Foyo has now scored eight league goals for the Essex side, who are 11th in the table.
