Tottenham now leading race to sign £65m 22-year-old defender with the world at his feet

Tottenham Hotspur may now move forward in the transfer market following the appointment of Ange Postecoglou.

Following another disappointing season, the Spurs’ defense could use some reinforcement.

Last season, Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez, and Clement Lenglet all struggled.

Even Cristian Romero struggled at times due to injuries and a lack of discipline.

There have been various reports circulating that Tottenham are interested in Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi.

According to The Athletic, Guehi’s positioning and game reading have piqued Tottenham’s interest.

They believe the Lilywhites’ interest in the Palace has been ‘longstanding’ and has increased in the last two years.

Arsenal is also allegedly interested in Guehi, but Dean Jones believes Tottenham has the upper hand.

“Of course, Harry Maguire’s interest will make headlines,” he told GiveMeSport.

“Because of who he is and where his reputation is right now, but he is by no means the only option out there.”

“Marc Guehi is another Premier League player we should expect them to thoroughly investigate.”

“Arsenal also admires him, but Spurs may have the upper hand in terms of being able to provide regular first-team football.”

“Which will be crucial in the season leading up to the European Championship, as he will aim to be part of that England squad.”

Guehi is a tremendously skilled player who would be an excellent acquisition for Tottenham or any other great club.

Furthermore, Spurs acquiring the 22-year-old would undoubtedly be received far better by fans than Maguire.

“Marc is second to none,” Palace defender Joel Ward said earlier this season to South London Press.

“He’s only scratched the surface here.”

“If he keeps moving in the same direction, he’ll have the world at his feet.”

Palace are said to demand roughly £65 million, while Tottenham’s planned proposal is £20 million less.

This is an interesting lead and let’s hope Spurs can go on and seal Guehi’s signature in the summer window.
