Willie le Roux will have to wait a while longer to become just the eighth Springbok to reach the 100-Test mark.

The 35-year-old veteran fullback has made 98 appearances in the green and gold jersey to date.

Le Roux, is bidding to become just the eighth South African to reach the magical three-figure mark – and the fourth backline player to do so.

It’s worth remembering that 944 players have pulled the famed green and gold jersey over their heads since 1891.

However, Le Roux was left out of Rassie Erasmus’s 23-man squad to take on England at the Allianz Stadium in Twickenham on Saturday.

Aphelele Fassi will start in the No 15 jersey this weekend.

Le Roux, who played the full 80 minutes against Scotland last weekend, needed to play a part in both the Springboks’ two remaining end-of-year tour matches in order to reach the 100-Test mark.

He will now need to wait until at least mid-year 2025 in order to do so.
