Nottingham Forest finally succeed as 19-goal striker agree to join City Ground

Sydney van Hooijdonk has stated that he may leave Bologna this summer, giving Nottingham Forest hope of bringing him to the Premier League.

Will Van Hooijdonk Jr Kollow follow in the footsteps of his father at City Ground?

If Sydney does emulate Pierre and dons the famed Garibaldi red, the hope is that he replicates his father’s prolific finishing but avoids the kind of controversy that marred Van Hooijdonk Sr’s Nottingham Forest legacy.

The Dutchman, 23, is currently under contract with Bologna.

Van Hooijdonk, however, has only made four appearances for the Serie A club since signing in 2021, having spent the previous 18 months on loan at Heerenveen in the Eredivisie.

Nottingham Forest, according to The Athletic, kept an eye on the powerful centre-forward as he scored 19 goals in 2022/23.While Sydney refused to speculate on whether he would follow his father to England, he did say that if he is not assured a first-team spot at the Rossoblu, he may cut connections with the club.

“It will be interesting to see what happens.””I’m not sure what’s going to happen,” Van Hooijdonk says to Veronica Inside.

“I’m going on vacation now, and I’ll keep up with everything (news).” I’m guessing I’ll just go back to Bologna. I believe it will be a lengthy summer.

“I am now 23 years old and refuse to be loaned out for another year.” I’m not sure Heerenveen will be able to afford to buy me.It was also arranged in advance that I would either play (at Bologna) or be sold. If I don’t play there, I believe it’s a fantastic time for me to be sold.

“I have had a good season. I have to say that I am open to everything. It just depends on the story and what the plan is with me. I am open to anything.”

Only Wolves, Bournemouth, and Southampton scored fewer Premier League goals last season than Nottingham Forest. Forest just confirmed that Chris Wood would remain, converting his loan deal into a permanent transfer, but Van Hooijdonk might yet find a place with Emmanuel Dennis and Sam Surridge facing unclear futures.

Andre Ayew has also left when his contract expired.
