JUST IN: Leeds United’s rivals closing in on eyebrow raising manager agreement

Following departures from the dugout over the summer and this season, Daniel Farke has found himself sitting sixth in the list of longest-serving current Championship managers.

It does underline the approach under the 49ers to stay patient despite some concerns about the long-term standing of the German, while others in the division have pulled the trigger – including Coventry City controversially sacking Mark Robins.

Replacing a club legend is a nigh on impossible task, but usually when a decision like this is made with someone of Robins’ stature, the hope from fans is that the succession plan is worthwhile.

The decision sparked fury from the Sky Blues fans despite a rough start to the season, a stark contrast to their performances last season, perhaps best summed up from a Leeds perspective by their two performances at Elland Road – last season fighting hard to earn a point from behind, but this season rolling over and being thumped 3-0.

Their solution to the vacancy in their dugout looks likely to be Frank Lampard, out of work since his interim position at Chelsea at the end of the 22/23 season,:

Lampard’s only other Championship job came in the 18/19 season when he secured a playoff finish with Derby County, beating Leeds in the semi-final before losing to Aston Villa in the final, boasting an immensely talented squad including Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori, Harry Wilson, Jayden Bogle and more.

After Leeds failed to go up, there was optimism that we’d be still one of the favourites to secure the title this time around.

One of the outside shouts for the top two were Coventry under Robins, spending quite heavily once again and now boasting one of the stronger squads in the league, not just a solid lineup.

However, given their start to the campaign and knee-jerk decision to sack Robins, they look miles off being in the promotion race.

It’s hard to see if Lampard will be an improvement for them based on what we’ve seen from his career, but it’ll take him some time to convince neutrals, but more so the Coventry fans.
