For Jerry Jones, this NFL season could be the second worst record since he became the owner of the Dallas Cowboys. However, the team features the likes of Micah Parsons, Trevon Diggs, and CeeDee Lamb. In their worst season in 1989, the team did not boast this many star players.
The team this season does lack depth, which was one of the biggest criticisms Jerry Jones has faced so far. Before Dak Prescott went down with a season ending injury, that lack of depth showed as they lost five out their first eight games.
Two wins came against struggling squads and the third against a Pittsburgh Steelers not playing at their best. That meant the team needed more to play better. But the focus shifted to head coach Mike McCarthy for being unable to galvanize the squad he had.
It even reached a boiling point when their star pass rusher seemingly suggested inept coaching was letting the team down. While on his podcast, The Edge with Micah Parsons, he was speaking with teammate Trevon Diggs about this very issue.
Micah Parsons went on to suggest that, at least on defense, the Dallas Cowboys are doing a good job. Suggesting that the problems on offense and special teams were hampering them. But his words mostly suggested that the team was good enough to win, just that the results are not showing it.
Trevon Diggs adds to Micah Parson’s comments
That support behind Jerry Jones may not surprise many as former Cowboys star Marcus Spears felt the defensive star is obligated to his owner. Rather than point fingers at the lack of talent, Micah Parsons has continuously pointed out the deficiencies in coaching.
Star cornerback Trevon Diggs was listening to his teammate’s words in this conversation. When Parsons suggested it was not a problem of the personnel the team has, the former All-Pro added his opinion on what he thinks is the problem.
Both of them seemingly supported Jerry Jones in suggesting the team was good enough. Parsons said later on that his defensive coaches have done a good job so far and it is showing. It could be another dig at Mike McCarthy, as the offense and special teams have struggled under his watch.
