Tottenham are ‘engaged in negotiations’ with Juventus to recruit Dejan Kulusevski on a permanent basis, according to London World.
Kulusevski arrived at Tottenham Hotspur on loan from Juventus last January and made an immediate impact. He was one of the main players who contributed significantly to the team’s qualification for the Champions League.
Despite the fact that injuries limited his ability to recreate his previous form, Kulusevski nevertheless managed to provide 2 goals and 7 assists this season.
During his one-and-a-half-year stay at the club, the Swedish player contributed seven goals and sixteen assists in 57 games across all competitions.
His loan agreement featured a condition that made the transfer mandatory if Tottenham finished in the top four.
Spurs are no longer required to sign him on a permanent contract for €35 million after failing to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
As a result, according to the newest reports, Tottenham are currently in talks with Juventus to negotiate a better deal for Kulusevski, as they continue to be interested in signing him on a permanent basis.
Tottenham analyst Alasdair Gold recently stated that Spurs view the player as a bargain deal and intend to sign him even if they have to pay the £30 million asking price.
Gold believes that the payment will be made over the following five years, making the arrangement a “no-brainer.”
It remains to be seen whether new manager Ange Postecoglou sees Kulusevski as a player who suits his team’s style.
However, it is clear that the club is anxious to sign the Swedish winger on a permanent basis, and if rumors are to be believed, talks with the Italian club are already in the works.
