Leeds United finally agree multi-million deal as key player set for exit

We’re thrilled to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive contributor, as he’ll be providing his thoughts on the most pressing issues at Leeds United each week…

Paul Robinson is relieved that Tyler Roberts has left Leeds United for QPR, having joined the club earlier this week.

On July 6, the 23-year-old agreed to terms on a loan agreement with the Championship club, with the option to make the deal permanent the following year.

According to the Daily Mail, the permanent option agreed upon between Leeds and QPR is worth £4.5 million.

Roberts has had a mixed career at Leeds, but his criticism reached new heights last season as the Yorkshire club faltered in the Premier League and Marcelo Bielsa persisted to play him.

Robinson is now relieved that Roberts has the opportunity to start over elsewhere, claiming that everyone benefits from the arrangement.

Robinson told MOT Leeds News, “I think Roberts has had a very indifferent time at Leeds.”

“He’s been unlucky at times, poor, and underperformed.”

“He hasn’t had a chance to show his best, and he hasn’t been at his best.”

“It’s best for him and the club if he leaves.”

“It’s a chance for him to restart.”

“Going to QPR will give him the opportunity to play every week and regain his confidence.”

“He was playing without confidence, and the fans were piling on.”

“You could see he was having a hard time. For him, a new beginning and a new challenge is a win-win situation for everyone.”

Last season, Roberts appeared in 23 Premier League games for Leeds.

He has made 108 appearances for the Whites and scored nine goals.

In other Leeds United news, as Orta continues to work his magic, the Whites want to sign this English left-back.
