Kaizer Chiefs may have signed four defenders in the previous window, but that doesn’t seem to be enough.

Chiefs signed Bongani SamRushwin Dortley, Inacio Miguel and Bradley Cross for their revamped defence.

Chiefs have made a host of defensive signings

This on top of already adding two marquee defenders the previous season in Thatayaone Ditlhokwe and Given Msimango. Things didn’t workout as former missed a huge chunk of the season through injury while the latter lost form. The new addition started brightly for Chiefs but are yet to keep their first clean sheet for the club.

Miguel has served two suspensions already, while Cross and Dortley have not been the same of late. Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi doesn’t seem to fancy Ditlhokwe, and Zitha Kwinika and could look to offload them in January. That could then open up a space for a replacement or two and should that be the case, they have someone in mind.

Moloisane the next target?

According to Soccer-Laduma, Chiefs are currently scouting an ex-Orlando Pirates defensive target in Thabo Moloisane.

“Chiefs are following Thabo Moloisane and he is one of the players that has been identified for a possible move to Naturena. Chiefs scout Tera Maliwa is following the player, and it is not like he doesn’t know him, because the boy was at Sundowns in the development when he worked there. Now it’s just about him trying to see if he can get the player to join Chiefs from what I understand” said a source to the same publication.

It is believed that Moloisane’s existing contract with Stellenbosch expires at the end of the season. They do, however, have an option to extend that deal. It is inevitable that they will eventually do so. That would then mean Chiefs would have to pay a transfer fee for his services.
