Tottenham and Chelsea are both interested in Villarreal’s Nicolas Jackson.
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly competing with Chelsea for Villarreal star Nicolas Jackson.
According to the Sun (h/t Fichajes), the Blues’ transfer target has a £34 million release clause in his contract at the Ceramica. He enters the summer transfer market after a stellar season with the Yellow Submarine.
In 38 games with Villarreal, the 22-year-old Senegal international scored 13 goals and provided five assists. These figures indicate two things.
He knows where the goal is, and despite being only 22 years old, he has the mental and physical maturity to be a regular starter for a major European team. Can the Spurs make use of him?
Spurs for Jackson?
His aforementioned release clause isn’t excessive. Even if he had an average time in N17, one might think that he will keep that value a few years down the road.
It does not appear to be a dangerous investment, and it appears to be the appropriate profile to boost our frontline. If Jackson joins a team like Chelsea or Spurs, he may realize that he will not be a regular starter right away.
But he can provide strong competition today and be a future successor to players like Harry Kane and Son Heung-min. Chelsea’s condition may potentially be tempting to him, which will work against Tottenham.
The Blues would like to find a new No. 9. The experiment with Romelu Lukaku failed, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been a colossal disappointment since joining from Barcelona.
A move to Stamford Bridge, where he may play under Mauricio Pochettino – a manager known for giving young players opportunities and developing them into world-class players – could thus be equally, if not more tempting for Jackson.
