Agent meet Nottingham Forest after series of calls for negotiation to sign Hendrick van Crombrugge

Hendrick van Crombrugge is on the market at Anderlecht, only days after revealing he would be interested in joining Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

As they say, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Hendrick van Crombrugge would undoubtedly concur. Shortly after turning down a January move to Nottingham Forest, the seasoned Anderlecht captain was replaced in goal by Bart Verbruggen.

And if Van Crombrugge thought Verbruggen’s upcoming £17 million move to Brighton and Hove Albion would give him the chance to restore his status as Anderlecht’s number one goalkeeper, he was dead wrong.

The 30-year-old is now on the transfer list, according to Het Nieuwsblad.

It remains to be seen whether Nottingham Forest will rekindle their interest. According to The Sun, Van Crombrugge turned down Forest’s approaches five months ago for personal reasons, but he may not do so again.

“If Nottingham Forest come back at the end of the season, I would certainly think about it,” the former Belgium international said a few weeks ago on Radio Radzinski.

In four years at Anderlecht, the Leuven-born goalkeeper has played 120 games.

However, one of Belgium’s largest teams is anxious to cash in rather than loan him out; Het Nieuwsblad reports that Genk’s ambitions of signing Van Crombrugge on a temporary basis have been dashed by RSCA Stadium officials.

Meanwhile, Van Crombrugge would have to make do as a number two at Nottingham Forest. Similar to the last few months in Anderlecht.

Forest are close to re-signing Dean Henderson from Manchester United for roughly £15 million. Cooper’s squad still has room for another goalkeeper, with Keylor Navas on his way back to Paris Saint-Germain (Manchester Evening News).

Forest are also keeping an eye on three Italian goalkeepers: Michele di Gregorio (Monza), Emil Audero (Sampdoria), and Luis Maximiano (Lazio).
