Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for James Maddison for months, and now Fabrizio Romano has stated that a deal is nearing completion.
Spurs’ Ange Postecoglou era has officially begun. Guglielmo Vicario became the club’s first summer signing after Dejan Kulusevski’s loan was extended, and the next one is not far away.
In a video posted on his YouTube account, Romano said that Maddison will sign with Tottenham very soon.

Tottenham confirmed the signing of Vicario yesterday, which is a major plus, but the dread of losing Harry Kane has returned after Bayern Munich made a bid for him.
To round off an extremely hectic day, many reports indicated Tottenham are close to signing James Maddison, and Romano claims sources have told him this will happen very soon.
Maddison appears to have already agreed to personal terms with Spurs.
“They’re getting close to a deal for James Maddison,” Romano added. According to sources tonight, the agreement is quite close to being reached. There is an expectation that it will be completed very soon, with the ‘here we go’ expected in the following hours or days.
“The arrangement with the player has been completed. It’s a long-term contract; Maddison agreed to the terms provided by Tottenham, and they’re currently nearing a monetary agreement with Leicester.
“From what I understand, they (Tottenham) are already preparing for James Maddison’s medical tests.” We’re truly nearing the end of this story.”
Spurs have been desperate for a top-tier offensive midfielder for some years. They haven’t had one since Christian Eriksen left and Dele Alli lost his superhuman abilities.
Tottenham have been connected with a number of names for that position in the last two years, but we have to conclude that Maddison has always been their best option.
Now, it appears like he will become a Spurs player soon, which might significantly improve Tottenham’s chances next season.
