Leeds United are looking to add new players this summer, and one player rumored to be on their radar is Liverpool’s Nat Phillips.
The Athletic claimed on Tuesday that Leeds United are fans of Phillips despite the fact that no manager or sporting director is in place. However, he is valued around £10 million, so there may be cheaper options available who can still impress at Elland Road.
That being said, here are three additional center-back possibilities for the Whites to explore…
If Leeds United want to re-enter the American market, Miles Robinson may be one of the best alternatives.
The 26-year-old center-back is out of contract at the end of the season and is capable of playing in Europe. He’s a solid presence on the ball, and as a 19-time US international, there’s no denying his pedigree. Robinson meets the recruitment profile and has the potential to make an impression on these shores.
McNally appears to be on the outskirts at Burnley despite a standout loan spell at Coventry City. He’s a player capable of playing for a good Championship club and might find himself in the Premier League in the future.
His time at Oxford United and Coventry City demonstrated his ability to carry the ball out of defense. He’d be a good fit for Leeds if they want to play on the front foot this season, and his position in the Burnley pecking order could make a transfer possible.
Last but not least is Nathan Wood, a very forceful idea given his career track. After impressing in his first year at Swansea City, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the kid in the Premier League soon.
A chance to play for a top second-tier team in front of large audiences, on the other hand, could be an appealing proposition. Swansea have previously demonstrated a willingness to sell and frequently do so at a good price for the buyer, much to the chagrin of its followers. Taking advantage of it with a move for Wood as he enters the final year of his contract may be smart business for Leeds.
