Spurs’ behind-the-scenes changes continue ahead of the new season.
Gretar Steinsson, Tottenham’s performance director, is likely to quit after a year.
The 41-year-old was previously a right-back for Bolton Wanderers and Iceland before being hired as Spurs’ performance director in June 2022 by Fabio Paratici, the club’s then-director of football.
The former Everton head of recruiting and development and Icelandic national team technical advisor worked across both the academy and the senior side at Tottenham but is now poised to depart his position.
Changes to the club’s structure have been made ahead of next season, and Steinsson is said to have been freed of his duties as a result of these changes, which come only weeks after Yaya Toure chose to step down as manager of Tottenham’s U18 team.
Spurs had a difficult season this season, with Antonio Conte departing in March. His assistant manager, Cristian Stellini, took over as caretaker manager but was fired after a humiliating 6-1 loss to Newcastle in April.
Ryan Mason took over until the end of the season, but former Australia manager Ange Postecoglou is now in charge, having been appointed as Tottenham’s new permanent manager earlier this month after Celtic won the Scottish domestic triple.
Tottenham placed ninth in the Premier League this season and, as a result, will play no European football next season for the first time since the 2009-10 season.
