Barcelona is closing in on the forward, but Spurs are hoping to derail the deal.
Tottenham Hotspur are now hopeful of hijacking Barcelona’s approach for Athletico Paranaense striker Vitor Roque, having lately made contact with the player’s entourage, according to Spanish media.

According to reports, Roque is on his way to Barcelona, with the La Liga club negotiating a deal for €45 million (£39 million) for the forward, despite late attempts by Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain to hijack the move.
The 18-year-old is expected to be revealed as a Barcelona player later this week, but that hasn’t stopped Tottenham from making a late move for him, according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness).
The Blaugrana have struck a “pre-agreement” to sign the Athletico Paranaense player, but Spurs are now hoping that they will be able to hijack the deal, and they have already made their first move.
Tottenham is one of the clubs who have contacted the player’s entourage in an attempt to persuade him to change his mind, but it does not appear that they stand a chance.
The Brazilian is focused on his move to Barcelona, and just the last paperwork needs to be completed before his move to the Camp Nou is finalized.
After making his debut for Cruzeiro, the youngster has gone on to establish himself as a key first-team player for Athletico Paranaense, scoring seven goals and assisting twice in 13 Brazilian Serie A games last season.
Football Scout Jacek Kulig has spoken highly of the teenager, describing him as a “top talent” and “unstoppable” after his amazing goal return last season.
