Newcastle United are interested in signing the Republic of Ireland young international.
Romeo Akachukwu, a Republic of Ireland youth international, is expected to visit Newcastle United next week ahead of a possible move.
Following his performance in the recent under-17 European Championships, the 16-year-old has piqued the interest of several elite clubs, including Manchester United, Arsenal, and AC Milan.
In a 3-0 win over Wales, Akachukwu scored one of the tournament’s goals as Ireland proceeded to the quarter-finals before falling to Spain.
The midfielder also reached a significant milestone last Friday night when he made his whole debut for League of Ireland First Division side Waterford in a 6-1 win over Finn Harps.

Faireland Fans said that Akachukwu will be toured around Newcastle’s facilities next week in the intention of luring him to Tyneside in the near future.
Akachukwu, who will be 17 at the end of July, will not be entitled to move to England until he is 18. However, the Magpies’ foresight is unsurprising.
Dan Ashworth, who became United’s sporting director last year, has made significant changes to the academy, both on and off the field, by introducing a number of scouting and recruitment posts situated around England in order to improve academy efficiency.
Paul Midgley (Head of Head of Youth Recruitment) and Paul McLaren (Head of National Youth Scouting 13s to 18s) have joined from Manchester City, while Edward Black (Lead Academy Scout U9s to U14s), Delroy Ebanks (South of England Academy Lead Scout), Andy Basterfield (North West Regional Scout), and Claire Burrows have joined from Arsenal, West Ham, Manchester United, and Leicester City, respectively.
A significant amount of money has also been spent on recruiting young players.
Alex Murphy and Charlie McArthur joined Newcastle from Galway United and Kilmarnock, respectively, last summer, while Garang Kuol and, most recently, Yankuba Minteh arrived before being loaned out.
