Leicester City players discuss the club after returning for preseason training at Seagrave. Meanwhile, a centerback makes an unexpected early return.
City’s previously promising but unwanted and, in modern times, unusual Championship campaign is nearing completion. LCFC start open the season against Midlands rivals Coventry City at home. The King Power team will have to keep an eye on the Sky Blues, who were clearly impressive last season. Nonetheless, Leicester are widely regarded as the favorites to win the second English division and return to the promised land of Premier League football. Training has begun, and a large number of Foxes have returned.
Goalkeepers Daniel Iversen, Alex Smithies and Jakub Stolarczyk are at Seagrave testing their reflexes. While defenders Ricardo Pereira, James Justin, Harry Souttar, Jannik Vestergaard, Conor Coady – a new signing – Lewis Brunt, along with Ben Nelson were put through their paces. Midfielders Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Hamza Choudhury, Boubakary Soumare, Dennis Praet and Harry Winks – another fresh face – were involved. Veteran Marc Albrighton, wantaway Harvey Barnes, the iconic Jamie Vardy and striker George Hirst made up the early group of 19. Barnes, Vestergaard and Praet are unlikely to be around for much longer with permanent transfers mooted. However, we’ve been saying that about the latter pair for what seems like years.
Harry Souttar can also be found in Leicester City Centre.
Souttar appeared as an unexpected participant in the sessions. Because he is an international footballer, he was not expected to return for the first day of practice. Nonetheless, the Australian had the opportunity to meet new colleagues and reconnect with teammates from the dismal 2022/23 season.
Souttar had just finished fighting in China, making his return even more shocking. He and the Australians were defeated 2-0 by Argentina, with the 24-year-old playing the entire 90 minutes. The goals were scored by the famous Lionel Messi and defender German Pezzella.
