£4.2m price settled as Spur bid highest to sign League tittle winner

Everyone appreciates a good deal, but Tottenham Hotspur will take the cake if they can sign a former Premier League champion for just £4.2 million.

The north Londoners, under by new boss Ange Postecoglou, will be just as eager as their Premier League rivals to bolster their team ahead of the 2023/24 season.

To that end, the Australian may assume that he will have money to spend in the current transfer market, but according to one rumor, the White Hart Lane team is still shopping in the cheap cellar.

Clement Lenglet of Barcelona would likely leap at the chance to continue his footballing education at Spurs after spending last season on loan at the north Londoners and being deemed surplus to requirements at the Camp Nou.

Hotspur reports that the club will take a close look at the player, but only for €5 million/£4.2 million.

At only 28 years old, Lenglet still has a lot of playing time left in him, and it would really indicate how dire Barcelona’s financial situation was if they were willing to do business at that price.

Of course, the other side of the equation is that it would be another set of salary off the books, and at this moment, Barcelona clearly needs all of the aid they can get.
