Newcastle United invited the former West Ham United midfielder to St James’ Park for a tour.
Divine Mukasa, an England youth international, has spoken an emotional farewell to West Ham United as he prepares to join a new club.
Musaka rose through the London Stadium’s academy ranks. After impressing for the under-15s and under-16s, the 15-year-old spent the majority of last season with the under-18s, who won the league and cup.
In April, he scored the game-winning goal against Arsenal in the Premier League South, and he was part of the squad that won the FA Youth Cup. Although the Hammers appeared to be desperate to keep Mukasa, the midfielder has moved on.
“Thank you to all the West Ham players and staff who have helped develop me into both the player and person that I am today,” Mukasa wrote on Instagram.
“This club has been my home for the past ten years, and its closure is bittersweet, but it’s time for me to move on to the next chapter of my career.” Best wishes to everyone in the club.❤️⚒️”
Mukasa has held conversations with both Newcastle United and Rangers, as well as Manchester City.
According to NewcastleWorld, the Magpies met Mukasa and his agent earlier this week and were given a tour of St James’ Park and the club’s Benton training camp.
Newcastle will find out in the coming days or weeks whether they were successful in convincing the England under-16 international to continue his development in the North East.
