According to Turkish tabloid Aksam, Tottenham Hotspur are likely to sign Galatasaray center-back Victor Nelsson.
According to the report, Tottenham had competition for Nelsson from Arsenal as well as Serie A duo Napoli and Atalanta.
Tottenham, on the other hand, were said to be the most interested in signing him.
Spurs made a first €22 million (£18.7 million) bid for the Denmark international, which the Lions turned down.
Galatasaray have stated that they want €25 million for Nelsson, which is his release clause.
According to Aksam, Spurs are likely to sign Nelsson after spending some time to review Galatasaray’s proposal.
If the deal goes through, Galatasaray will have sold a record number of players.
The Lions are not in a rush to trade Nelsson, who is under contract until 2025, but if Tottenham triggers his release clause, it will be out of their hands.
Furthermore, Nelsson wishes to depart this summer after fulfilling his aim of winning the Super Lig last season.
The defender was an integral member of the Lions team that won the league title.
