Aston Villa hold a serious talk with Athletic to sign incredible £43m electrified striker

Unai Emery is said to be a big fan of Athletic Club’s Nico Williams, with Aston Villa interested in signing him this summer.

According to The Daily Mail, despite Villa’s interest, Williams is set to stay in Bilbao.

Villa have already moved to sign Youri Tielemans on a free transfer this summer, but there is still a lot of work to be done before the transfer window ends.

Emery will be looking to strengthen his team as he prepares Villa for a return to European play.

The Villains are widely expected to sign another forward this summer, and Nico Williams has been prominently linked with a move.

Indeed, Spanish publication Marca stated that Villa were willing to pay Williams roughly £115,000 per week to relocate to the Midlands.

While Emery is reported to be a big fan of the Spaniard, a deal this summer appears doubtful.

Williams is a major fan of Emery’s.

According to the Daily Mail, Emery is a ‘big admirer’ of Williams, who is being pursued by Aston Villa.

However, the winger appears to be more likely to stay in Bilbao this summer.

Williams has been a standout for Athletic over the last year, scoring 11 goals in 36 La Liga appearances.

The child has been described as a ‘great’ prospect, but it appears that Villa will face an uphill battle to sign him.

According to 90 Min, Villa are set to miss out on the winger because he is close to signing a new contract with Athletic Club.

He apparently has a £42.7 million release clause in his contract, but it’s unclear whether it will be retained if he agrees to new terms.

While it will be disappointing for Emery to miss out on a player he admires, the Spaniard will be eager to move on to other targets if he is unable to sign Williams.

Villa need additional depth as they begin the new season, with Emery facing a more demanding fixture calendar this time around.
