Newcastle table an £82m bid to sign 22-year-old Premier League electrifying striker

Newcastle are said to have made an £82 million approach for Napoli striker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The Magpies are looking to cement their place in the top four this summer, and Eddie Howe appears to believe that additional investment is required.

The Toon Army made significant progress last season, finishing fourth to clinch Champions League football, but the club’s ownership will be hoping that the team does not stagnate now that they have somewhat overachieved.

Instead, Newcastle are hoping to add a few European-proven players to their ranks in order to improve the quality of their starting XI and give more depth to deal with the crowded fixture calendar.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Magpies have made a formal bid of £82 million for Kvaratskhelia in order to test Napoli’s resolve. Howe’s team has allegedly not been told of the conclusion of their proposal, despite the fact that the Serie A club is claimed to be preparing for the forthcoming season with the winger.

If the bid is rejected, Newcastle are rumoured to be willing to up their offer to £85 million for the Georgian international. Last season, Kvaratskhelia shined in Italy, scoring 12 goals and assisting 10 in 34 league appearances, while also proving equally dangerous in the Champions League with two goals and four assists.

Though the club’s higher-ups appear to be eager to venture into the more profitable side of the transfer market. Howe has already added midfielder Sandro Tonali from AC Milan in a £55 million transfer, while talks with AS Monaco about central defender Axel Disasi, who has also piqued the interest of Manchester United, are ongoing.
