Sam Surridge, a Nottingham Forest striker, is expected to depart the club after writing an emotional statement on Instagram.
The 24-year-old will be permitted to leave the City Ground after making only one Premier League appearance last season.
Surridge was utilized as an emergency replacement and scored his only Premier League goal in January against Bournemouth.
The player was instrumental in the Reds’ promotion to the top level in the 2021/22 season after winning the play-offs.
Surridge joined Forest from Stoke City in January 2022 and scored eight goals in the season’s second half.
Perhaps his most memorable performance in the Garibaldi was a three trick in a 5-1 win over Swansea City.
Surridge appears to be on his way to the MLS. Last week, it was reported that he was close to joining Nashville SC, with Leeds also interested.
That appears to be a good move for the striker. He will depart Forest with the highest regard from fans, and he should find lots of opportunities in America.
Surridge has now shared a touching farewell on Instagram as he prepares to leave Forest behind.
Surridge posted an emotional message on Instagram as he prepares to leave the Forest.
The talisman has proved a good signing for the Reds. He will forever be remembered as an integral player during the 2021/22 campaign.
Surridge will always be welcomed back at Forest and looking at his Instagram post, it’s clear that he’s grateful for the chance he got at the club.
Perhaps the man who has worked with Steve Cooper before is the right player for Forest but at the wrong time.
Although Surridge is proven with Forest in the Championship, the jury is perhaps still out on whether he can consistently do it in the Premier League.
Now, he has the chance to play regular football for Nashville and he should enjoy himself in the MLS.
His message on Instagram is definitely from the heart and Forest fans won’t have a bad word said about Surridge.
