Tottenham Hotspur are expected to sign Edmond Tapsoba and Micky van de Ven this summer, according to journalist Ryan Taylor.
Taylor spoke with GiveMeSport and provided an update on Tottenham’s search for a new center-back.
Tottenham made a strong start to the summer transfer season by signing Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, and Manor Solomon.
However, the North Londoners are still looking for a new center-back, with Ange Postecoglou stating that he wants to strengthen in that position.
“We’re looking to bring in at least one,” the Australian executive said this week to The Evening Standard.
“There is no frustration; it is simply the football world.” I’ve been around long enough to understand how things work. I wish it were like my wife and I.
Edmond Tapsoba of Bayer Leverkusen and Micky van de Ven of Wolfsburg are two defenders who have been highly linked with a move to Tottenham this summer.
Indeed, Fabrizio Romano stated on Monday that Tapsoba is still at the top of Tottenham’s priority list.
However, Taylor has suggested that the Spurs could bring in both Tapsoba and Van de Ven as they look to reshape their backline this summer.
Taylor believes the Spurs will sign Van de Ven and Tapsoba.
“However, there will almost certainly be some outgoings at Spurs as well.” “That’s just how Ange Postecoglou sees it,” Taylor explained to GiveMeSport.
“I don’t think they’ll need more than those two [Micky van de Ven and Edmond Tapsoba] if he sticks with a back four, but if they’re going to go to a back three at some point, they might want to look again.”
“Of course, Clement Lenglet left after his loan from Barcelona.” Then there’s Davinson Sanchez, who’s generating a lot of buzz. Joe Rodon is also expected to leave.
“So, yeah, I think those two will be the ones to come in.”
