Leicester key player makes final decision on joining Saudi Arabia after star set to leave club

Jannik Vestergaard’s contract expires this summer, and he is anticipated to leave Leicester City.

Last season, the centre-back’s game time was dramatically decreased, with only 193 minutes of involvement in three games. This did not deter Saudi Arabia from showing interest in him.

According to BT in Denmark, the Leicester defender has turned down a $6 million contract offer from an undisclosed Saudi team.

The 30-year-old gave the same site an interview in which he revealed why he did not accept the proposition.

“I don’t want to comment on the club’s name, because it’s not fair, but I can only say my sporting ambitions matter most. I’ve always chosen a club based on what I believed would be a good step-up football-wise,” he said.

“Money has never been my motivation. The sporting challenge is the whole reason why I play football – and love to do it.”

An injury setback forced him to miss the last few fixtures of last season. The player now claims he’s regained full fitness and is enjoying pre-season training under Enzo Maresca’s orders.

Despite this, the Denmark international is still interested in leaving Leicester following their relegation from the Premier League. The former Southampton player has stated his desire to play for another club next season.

“To be honest, I’m aiming for the five major leagues, and I’ve heard from my agent that there’s a lot of interest.” “I have big sporting ambitions, and there’s still a lot of time in the window, so I think it looks good,” Vestergaard said.

When asked if he could quit Leicester, the Dane said, “.I am confident that both the club and I agree that I can leave now.”
