Leicester City on a move to sign a potential star before the end of this summer

Leicester City on a move to sign a potential star before the end of this summer

Leicester City start off their 2023/24 Championship campaign against Coventry City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday, and fans may see a lot of new faces in action.

Leicester City have signed anyone this summer?

The Foxes responded to their relegation from the Premier League by bringing in five new players during the summer transfer window.

Enzo Maresca, who replaced interim head coach Dean Smith, has signed permanent deals for Harry Winks, Stephy Mavididi, Conor Coady, and Mads Hermasen, while central defender Callum Doyle has joined on loan from Manchester City.

These additions were made possible by the sales of James Maddison and Harvey Barnes, who have returned to the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, respectively.

This means that the Foxes have lost their two best scorers from last season, since they were the only players with more than five goals in the Premier League.

Maresca could now add some much-needed firepower to Mavididi’s assault by making a swoop for Swansea’s rumored transfer target Joel Piroe, who is valued at approximately £15 million.

How talented is Joel Piroe?

The Dutch striker is a proven Championship goalscorer who could be the focal point of the head coach’s forward line and a dream ace to play alongside the ex-Arsenal winger.

Mavididi is a wide forward with the potential to be an exceptional scorer for Leicester City, and he might be dangerous alongside Piroe this season if the club can bring the Swansea City player to the King Power Stadium.

The English genius only scored four goals in 26 Ligue 1 games last season, but that came after the 25-year-old gem scored 17 goals in the French top division during the previous two seasons combined.

None of Leicester’s current players scored more than five league goals last season, and Mavididi, who scored at least eight in two of his three years with Montpellier, could be Maresca’s outstanding wide scoring option if he rediscovers his best form.

Meanwhile, Piroe is coming off two superb seasons in the Championship with Swansea and might be the Foxes’ major goal threat if he can replicate his form at the King Power.

The 24-year-old dynamo, who was previously dubbed a “danger man” by journalist Josh Bunting, scored 19 goals in 43 league appearances last season, up from 22 in 45 the previous season.

This means that the £15m phenomenon has scored at least 14 more goals in the 2022/23 season than any existing Leicester player has in the previous two years.

Piroe might be a fantastic signing for Maresca because his statistics show that he has the ability to be the club’s top-scorer this season in the Championship, as the prolific Dutchman has proven to be a clinical finisher at this level.

If they click, the current Swans star and Mavididi might be a dangerous top-of-the-pitch partnership, since they are both capable of being excellent scorers for their respective positions and could strike fear into opponent defenses week in and week out.
