Rio Ferdinand has questioned why Dane Scarlett has yet to make his debut at Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham will now be looking for a number nine to lead them forward in the coming years, or multiple attacking players to fill the goals he has taken to Bayern Munich.
Ange Postecoglou should give Dane Scarlett a chance, according to Ferdinand, who told Vibe with Five, ‘I have been hearing about him for a long time’.
Tottenham have created numerous chances and scored four goals in their first two Premier League games under Postecoglou’s new method.
But none of their attackers have opened their accounts yet, with Richarlison currently leading the line – he was slammed by Gabby Agbonlahor.
In the meantime, Scarlett hasn’t even made the matchday squad, with Ferdinand sharing his brief thoughts on the 19-year-old.
“I have been hearing about him for time and he hasn’t come through yet,” said Ferdinand. “I have been hearing his name for a long time.”
It’s time to propel Scarlett forward.
If there was ever a time to give Scarlett a chance to play senior football, this is it, given Spurs are still in the early phases of the Postecoglou era.
Fans would gladly accept bumps in the road, more rough edges than smooth ones, since they realize what their new coach is attempting to achieve.
So why not toss Scarlett into the deep end? Especially considering Richarlison has only one Premier League goal for the club.
