Tottenham news – Spurs travel to Lancashire on Saturday to face a Burnley side chasing their first win of the season
Tottenham will be hoping to continue their fantastic start to the season as they make a trip to Turf Moor to face Burnley on Saturday.
Having won twice and drawn once in their first three Premier League games, Ange Postecoglou has made an impressive start to life as Spurs boss and will seek to continue this form on Saturday. Burnley will stand in their way, with Vincent Kompany’s side winless so far in the league.
Transfer deadline day was positive for Spurs, with the addition of Nottingham Forest and Wales playmaker Brennan Johnson for a fee of £40m. However, the deal was only confirmed late on Friday to leave his participation on Saturday unlikely.
Burnley, meanwhile, failed in their attempt to complete deadline day business, with Chelsea left-back Ian Maatsen reportedly rejecting the chance to rejoin the Clarets after spending last season there on loan.
Speaking on Friday, Ange Postecoglou confirmed that just one player had become injured during the week building up to the match. He revealed that Giovani Lo Celso suffered a muscular injury during the midweek Carabao Cup defeat to Fulham. He joins Rodrigo Bentancur, Ryan Sessegnon and Bryan Gil on the sidelines for Saturday’s match.
“From the other night, the only one missing is Lo Celso,” said Postecoglou. “He’s got a quad strain, that’s why we took him off at half time. It’s nothing too serious. We’ve got the break coming up so hopefully not too long after that.”
