Paul Pierce finally Names 1 New Celtics Player ‘The Missing Piece’

NBA champion Paul Pierce dropped in on the Boston Celtics‘ training camp on Thursday and loved what he saw.

Speaking to the press, he was asked about the addition of Jrue Holiday and what he could bring to the team.

Pierce called Holiday a “natural leader” and said he believes he could be the “missing piece” the Celtics need, according to a video released by NBC Sports Boston.

Pierce is one of many people who expects great things from Holiday in the season ahead.

Last season, the 14-year veteran averaged 19.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 7.4 assists.

Beyond his shooting abilities, Holiday is an impactful defensive player too.

He is the epitome of a great two-way star and that is why so many teams were vying to get him after he was traded from the Milwaukee Bucks.

In the end, it was Milwaukee’s major rivals in the Celtics who earned him.

And now, Boston is trying to fit him into the rotation as quickly as possible before the new season gets going.

Holiday really could be the missing piece for the team’s backcourt.

The Celtics already have the powerful pair of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

Holiday makes that big two a big three.

If he is welcomed with open arms and creates a strong relationship with the team, as Pierce expects, this group could build upon the success of the last few seasons.

With one acquisition, the Celtics have improved their offense and defense at the same time, calming fans who were worried about the loss of Robert Williams III, Marcus Smart, and others.

Holiday really wants to prove he is that missing piece the team has needed.
