Back in the summer window, Nottingham Forest were said to be interested in São Paulo midfielder Jhegson Mendez.
Even though no offer was made, it was claimed that the Tricky Trees made an approach for the signing.
If Nottingham Forest did not want to pay the transfer fee at the time, they should have a good chance in the January window, according to the latest Jorge Nicola report.
Mendez is one of the players who are expected to depart So Paulo after the end of the Brazilian season in December, according to the writer.
According to reports, the Tricolor are willing to take ‘any’ offer that includes financial compensation in Mendez’s situation because the player was unable to settle at the club.
Nicola adds that a Turkish club recently made an offer for a free transfer, but that it was turned down by So Paulo, who want at least some compensation for his departure.
The entire issue makes us wonder whether Nottingham Forest would genuinely invest in his signing, given that his circumstances in Brazil shows he’s not in top form.
