The handover in ownership of Elland Road to the 49ers Enterprises at Leeds United is expected in the near future, according to Phil Hay.
Andrea Radrizzani is still down in writing as the owner of the stadium, but the summer takeover was said to have included an agreement for Elland Road too.
This has become somewhat of a saga following the recent release of documents, but sources close to the deal have cleared the air in the last 24 hours.
Writing for The Athletic, Hay shared the latest update after the saga involving the stadium over the past few weeks and months in West Yorkshire.
“As yet, there are no updates on Companies House about a change of ownership, but the 49ers’ buy-out of Radrizzani included an agreement for the group to acquire 100 per cent of Elland Road and sources with knowledge of the deal — speaking anonymously to protect confidentiality agreements — have told The Athletic that the handover is due to be registered at Companies House in the near future,” he wrote.
These things take time and it now looks as though the 49ers Enterprises will have full ownership of everything to do with the club, paving the way to move forward.
Once that paperwork is sorted and filed, everyone will breathe a sigh of relief that the 49ers have total control and can make their next moves, such as redevelopment.
Elland Road has been a sticky subject for the club over the past couple of decades, but to finally have it in the safe hands of owners who want to move forward, is a massive step.
Paraag Marathe will have his own plans for the stadium given his work over in San Francisco and the development of Levi’s Stadium, which surely makes every fan excited.
Companies House has been busy with Leeds and their paperwork, and hopefully, once this deal is down in writing, we can all move forward with a sense of calm and purpose.
