DEAL: Nottingham Forest target set for £2.2m mind blowing contract

The Gers have landed a new manager this week with Philippe Clement arriving into the Ibrox dugout.

There is still plenty of activity elsewhere though with Rangers also with an approach made for Sam Jewell, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Jewell could become Rangers technical director if Romano is right, and he may yet get the final call on a new contract which is already in the pipeline

It’s stated that Rangers have presented a two-year contract to the Croatian in the hope of sorting out his future, more than five years since his £2.2million move from Osijek.

The report adds that a deal is ‘expected’ to be struck in the coming weeks with Rangers looking to finalise an agreement soon.

Barisic is out of contract in the summer and Rangers want to protect against him penning a pre-contract agreement elsewhere.

It is though hinted that Rangers may still look to sell Barisic in the future, with this new contract potentially protecting his value more than being a signal of a key role moving forward.

TEAMtalk‘s report notes that Nottingham Forest remain keen on Barisic having wanted him over the summer.

Former Rangers man Ross Wilson is running the show at Forest and may well fancy reuniting with Barisic.

However, Barisic turns 31 in November and his form this season doesn’t really indicate that he will shine in the Premier League moving forward.

Forest also have a number one left back options; Harry Toffolo is in the mix, Nuno Tavares is on loan from Arsenal and both Ola Aina and Gonzalo Montiel can play on the left.

Signing another left back – and one who isn’t really pulling up trees this season – would be a huge surprise, even with Wilson involved, and the rumours may well be an attempt to force Rangers’ hand in contract terms.
