JUST IN: Rams Announce Two Signings to Practice Squad Team Tracker

The Rams made two roster moves on Tuesday, adding a pair of pass-catchers to the practice squad.

Jan. 18: The Rams have signed wide receiver Warren Jackson and tight end Kyle Markway to the practice squad, the team announced Tuesday.

Jackson is a big body receiver standing at 6-6, 215 pounds, making him a possible red zone threat. Finishing his college career at Colorado State in 2020, Jackson has yet to make his mark in the NFL, not appearing in a game this season.

Markway re-joins the Rams after a handful of stints with the team earlier this season. Like Jackson, Markay hasn’t consumed any playing time in games, primarily serving as a depth option on the practice squad where he’ll attempt to break through if an opportunity presents itself.

Jan. 17: The Rams have elevated safety Eric Weddle and defensive back Blake Countess from the practice squad, the team announced Monday.

With safety Jordan Fuller set to miss the remainder of the season with an ankle injury and safety Taylor Rapp declared out for the Wild Card Round as he remains in concussion protocol, the activation of Weddle and Countess figure to assist safties Nick Scott and Terrell Burgess on the backend of the defense.

Weddle, 37, was signed by the Rams out of retirement last Wednesday in an effort to give L.A. a helping hand with players in the secondary suffering injuries in last week’s regular-season finale.

Countess, spent his first three years in the NFL with the Rams before joining the New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles. After latching back onto the Rams’ practice squad last week, the team has made him available for Monday night’s contest, giving them additional depth in the secondary.

Jan. 5: The Rams have signed return man Brandon Powell to the active roster and signed wide receiver J.J. Koski to the practice squad, the team announced Wednesday.

Powell, who’s taken upon the Rams’ kick and punt return duties over the last five games, has now been signed to the active roster as a mainstay. Previously, Powell had been receiving an elevation from the practice squad ahead of each game but based on his recent perforces, it looks like Powell is here for the long haul this season, providing a jolt as a return specialist.

Powell earned NFC Special Team Player of the Week honors in Week 16 against the Vikings. In Minnesota, Powell returned two kicks for 75 yards, including one of which he took back 61 yards for a touchdown to extend the Rams’ lead in the third quarter by two possessions, which ultimately led to a 30-23 victory.

As for Koski, he was waived by the Rams on Tuesday but after clearing waivers he latches back on with the club, joining the practice squad. Koski has played in five games for the Rams this season, though most of his work has come on special teams. As a pass-catcher, Koski has registered two grabs for 20 yards.
