Cleveland Browns finally Announce Practice Squad Elevations before trip

The Browns announced two practice squad elevations for positions of need ahead of their AFC North showdown with the Ravens on Sunday.

Ahead of Sunday’s AFC North showdown in Baltimore, the Browns have elevated two practice squad members to the roster for the game.

With Greg Newsome dealing with an injury, and his status of playing remains to be seen, and down Cameron Mitchell to the injured reserve, the Browns elevated veteran cornerback A.J. Green. His inside and outside experience in Cleveland will serve well for depth.

He is in his third NFL season with the Browns out of Oklahoma State. He has appeared in 31 career games with two starts. Green will continue to wear the usual No. 38 he has worn since joining the team in 2021.

With injuries to the receiving group, the Browns also elevated Austin Watkins off the practice squad. Watkins is a bigger body at 6-3 and 210 pounds and will serve as depth on the outside. This is his first NFL season as he was an undrafted free agent back in 2021. He will wear No. 80 on Sunday just as he did during a stellar preseason.

Both Green and Watkins have been with the Browns practice squad throughout the season so their experience in the system should be seamless.

BEREA, Ohio — Each and every week, from Cleveland Browns coach Kevin Stefanski down to the players on the roster, the popular quote is ‘to go 1-0 this week’. No matter how big a game might be down the road, the mantra is echoed by the players and the coaches.

However, for this week, there is no better focus to have.

Since the Browns returned to the NFL, the team has not had too many important regular season games. Let’s face it, the Browns have not been very good since 1999.
