DONE DEAL: Nottingham Forest finally complete deal with Le Havre to sign star player

Nottingham Forest news from NottinghamshireLive as Andre Ayew signs for Le Havre having been released by the Reds at the end of last season

Andre Ayew has found himself a new club following his release by Nottingham Forest at the end of last season.

Ayew joined Forest in February after leaving Qatari side Al Sadd. The Ghana international signed a short-term deal with the Reds for the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign.

The former West Ham United and Swansea City forward made 13 appearances for Steve Cooper’s side as they managed to retain their Premier League status. However, only one of those was a start – in a 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle United.

Ayew was one of six senior players to be released at the end of their contracts in the summer. The others were Jesse Lingard, Lyle Taylor, Cafu, Jack Colback and Jordan Smith.

The 33-year-old had been without a club until Saturday, when he was unveiled by French club Le Havre. Ayew was introduced to the fans at the Stade Oceane after a goalless draw with Monaco in Ligue 1.

Le Havre are sixth in the table after 12 matches. Luka Elsner’s side are 12 points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain.

Ayew was born in France and started his professional career with Marseille. He made more than 200 appearances for the club and scored 60 goals before securing a move to Swansea in 2015.
