Latest Leicester City news from LeicestershireLive as Everton are found guilty of breaching Premier League financial rules and docked 10 points
Leicester City have already been told they have “no chance” of winning a legal case against Everton over their breach of Premier League financial rules.
Everton have been deducted 10 points after being found guilty of breaking the rules by an independent commission. The league referred Everton to the commission in March for an alleged breach of its profitability and sustainability rules, but it has taken until November for a decision to be made and Everton to face their subsequent punishment.
Leicester were said to be among clubs demanding Everton’s case be concluded – and any sanctions imposed – before the end of last season. The Foxes were relegated from the Premier League in May after finishing just two points behind Everton in 18th place. If the Toffees had been docked 10 points before the end of last season, City would have survived.

It has been said Leicester would pursue £100m in compensation if Everton were found guilty, but TalkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan is adamant any action would be unsuccessful.
“They’ve got no chance,” he said on TalkSPORT last month. “Everyone signs up to a covenant which is basically that the sanctioning of a breach has these consequences.
“Now they can make a case if they want and try and make a case through the legal system to try and suggest that this is a breach of the rules people signed up. Any decent court case is going to refer them back to the industry they came from and say what were the rules that you signed up to.
The rules that you signed up to were that the punishment for financial breaches was this. You can’t then go and say ‘Well I don’t like the rules that I signed up to and I can’t do anything about changing those rules, so I’m now going to sue you for them’.
“Any decent court will refer you back to your industry because that’s the governance that you decided you were going to be a party to.”
