Aston Villa have automatically joined the race for Bayer Leverkusen striker

Aston Villa are said to be interested in Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby, who is also wanted by Newcastle United and Arsenal.

The France international is regarded as one of the Bundesliga’s top attacking players. It would be a big coup if the Villains could get a deal done.

Since taking over as manager of Aston Villa in October of last year, Unai Emery’s influence has been nothing short of amazing.

The Midlands club was on the verge of relegation when the manager arrived. Emery, on the other hand, led his squad to an outstanding seventh-place finish. As a result, they will compete in Europe for the first time since 2010.

As a result, Emery is likely to be rewarded with a large sum of money to spend on new players.Aston Villa, for example, appears ready to recruit highly regarded centre-back Pau Torres.

However, they are now lobbying for Diaby. If they win, it will be a setback for two of their Premier League opponents.

According to the Daily Mail, Aston Villa have’made checks’ on Diaby, who is expected to depart Leverkusen this summer.

The 24-year-old is said to be interested in a move to the Premier League. So the Villains have a good chance of getting their man.

Diaby has made 172 appearances for Leverkusen across all competitions since joining in 2019. In the process, he has scored 49 goals and assisted on 48 others. This gives him an outstanding 0.56 goal contribution per game average.

As previously stated, his performances have piqued the interest of Newcastle and Arsenal, both of whom have made inquiries about signing the winger.

It’s worth mentioning, however, that the Magpies appear to be prioritizing a deal for Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes. As a result, if they sign the England international, they may be forced to withdraw from the contest.

Arsenal, on the other hand, is now focused on deals for Declan Rice and Romeo Lavia. However, a trade for Diaby is still possible.

However, Aston Villa will have to pay a significant price to recruit Diaby this summer. The current Villains record is £38 million, which they paid for Emiliano Buendia in 2021.

Diaby has been valued at £50 million by Leverkusen. As a result, signing the Frenchman this summer would almost certainly necessitate a club-record transfer fee.

With this in mind, it will be intriguing to watch if Aston Villa makes a bid for Diaby in the coming weeks.
