Aston Villa considering a move for Nottingham forest involving £50m done deal

Aston Villa are reportedly ‘considering’ a deal for Nottingham Forest attacker Brennan Johnson, who is also wanted by Brentford.

Following Unai Emery’s masterminding of Villa’s fast surge up the Premier League table last season, the club is not taking any chances in the transfer market ahead of their season in the Europa Conference League.

Pau Torres and Youri Tielemans have already joined from Villarreal and Leicester City, respectively, and they are far from finished.

Earlier this week, it was rumoured that Aston Villa had beaten Arsenal and Newcastle United to the signing of Bayer Leverkusen attacker Moussa Diaby.

‘Villa have made a £30 million proposal for Leverkusen winger Diaby and are pondering an offer for Nottingham Forest forward Johnson,’ according to The Telegraph.

The Villans are ‘sure’ that a ‘deal can be made’ for Diaby, as ‘negotiations remain ongoing’ with the Bundesliga club after their initial approach was turned down.

Johnson, meanwhile, is ‘developing as a genuine alternative’ for Aston Villa. Last season, the 22-year-old scored eight goals and provided three assists to help Forest avoid relegation.

Brentford had a record £30m bid for Johnson rejected earlier this summer, and The Telegraph reports that he is ‘valued at almost £50m’.

‘Forest are also in talks with PSV Eindhoven about defensive midfielder Ibrahim Sangare, who was mentioned last year as a long-term target for the club. Sangare has a release clause of about £31.6 million at the Eredivisie club, and clubs from all around Europe are interested.

‘Forest’s No. 1 target in that position is Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson, but Wolves’ Jose Sa has emerged as another contender.’

hink they may agree a lesser sum’ and defender Lucas Digne has been’mentioned during initial negotiations between the two clubs, with Forest having an interest as they seek reinforcements in that position’.

‘Digne is free to leave Villa following the January signing of Alex Moreno, but his weekly salary of roughly £120,000 are proving exorbitant at this point. Forest would need Digne to agree to a wage cut or try to negotiate a loan deal for the season, neither of which is ideal for either club.

‘Willian, the Fulham forward, is another Forest target, and a decision on his future might be made within the next 24 hours. Willian has been given a two-year contract by Forest, which is a year longer than the contract on offer at Fulham, although he might still stay at Craven Cottage.
