The 22-year-old has had a standout beginning to the campaign under Unai Emery and may have now added another string to his bow.

Last campaign, Douglas Luiz took penalties and now the ex-Middlesbrough man may be ready to take up that mantle for the season ahead after the Brazilian’s move to Juventus.

This wasn’t the only part of the versatile forward’s performance that the Spaniard will be happy with.

He had 39 touches throughout his 60-minute showing which saw him make 16 passes with a 76 per cent completion rate [SofaScore].

He could only make one key pass but given that he was playing as a number nine at Kenilworth Road, this doesn’t come as a surprise.

Rogers was able to score two goals with his three shots on target as he kept up 100 per cent accuracy in a positive performance.

The Villa star also showed the talents he has in B6 so far this campaign with two dribbles completed throughout the clash against Austria.

His exploits from 12 yards will certainly have the Villans taking notice as they look for a taker to replace the output of Luiz for the rest of the season
