BREAKING NEWS: Boston Celtics’ Jrue Holiday Reveals Proven Anti-Kyrie Irving Tactic Ahead of 2024 NBA Finals Game 3

The Boston Celtics are dominating the Dallas Mavericks so far in the 2024 NBA Finals. They won both games at home to start the series and will head to Wednesday’s Game 3 with a 2-0 lead.

Boston’s defense has been impressive in the finals, thus far. It has always been a major weapon for the Celtics this season and it is proving to be effective in slowing down the Mavs, including talented point guard Kyrie Irving, who has struggled with his shot of late.

Jrue Holiday sounds on the Boston Celtics’ success on defense against Kyrie Irving, Mavericks

Jrue Holiday, for one, is doing a great job defending against Irving and the Mavs, but he’s not one to take all the credit.

“I think it’s team defense. We do it as a team, it’s not just one person. It’s everybody. We just try to defend him, try to show him bodies, multiple people, and just try to make it difficult,” Holiday said on Tuesday, per Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.

Through two games in the finals, Irving has averaged just 14.0 points on 35.1 percent shooting from the field. Irving is also just 0/8 from behind the arc in the Celtics series. As a team, the Mavericks are only averaging 93.5 points in the finals while shooting just 44.5 percent from the floor.

All that being said, Holiday and the Celtics can’t feel too complacent. The Mavericks are still a dangerous team that is about to get a boost from its home crowd this Wednesday at home.
