Florida State football currently sits as the second-best recruiting class in the 2026 cycle according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. While I realize that some Seminole fans do not focus on the efforts of 2026 prospects due to recruiting being ever-changing, it is still important to monitor.
Head football coach Mike Norvell always emphasizes the importance of building relationships with a variety of prospects and setting a foundation filled with sustainable success for a program that has a combined 23-4 record over the past two seasons.
The college football recruiting landscape could be changing soon and they could include a summer signing period for prospects soon. That would be wild.
At this time, Florida State has three prospects committed to its recruiting class in four-star wide receiver Darryon Williams, four-star wide receiver Efrem White, and four-star safety Darryl Bell III.
In this article, I conducted two Q&As with some of the Seminoles’ top targets in their recruiting board.
FOUR-STAR ATH ASHARRI CHARLES
First on the Q&A is Class of 2026 four-star athlete Asharri Charles from Venice High School in Venice, Florida.
Q: Who/what inspired you to play the game of football?
A: “It was my mom that got me started at a young age and I fell in love ever since.”
Q: How did it feel coming down to Tallahassee to attend their camp?
A: “The camp was great! Had a ton of fun and I picked up some new moves to add to my arsenal for this upcoming season.”
Q: What makes Florida State stand out in your recruitment? Any coaches that you have a relationship with and what is their message to you?
A: “They make me feel like I am at home and how everything is close like a huge family. Coach JP (John Papuchis) is my guy and he tells me if I keep rapidly getting better like I am I will be one of, if not, the best edge rushers in the country”
Q: Do you have any return trips planned to come back to Tallahassee?
A: “As of right now, no, but I will try getting back up there later on this summer for sure.”
Q: What is it like having Florida State be your first-ever offer?
A: “It was one of the best experiences, it really helped me process and understand that I can and will be one of those next big-time guys.”

FOUR-STAR DE TRENTON HENDERSON
The last Q&A that we completed was Class of 2026 four-star defensive end Trenton Henderson from Pensacola Catholic High School in Pensacola, Florida.
Q: What did it mean to you when you got offered by Florida State back in April? What assistant coach do you speak to the most?
A: “It meant a lot to me to be offered by Florida State because that is my dream school. And I speak with Coach JP (John Papuchis) the most. That is my guy!”
Q: I know that you recently visited the Seminoles for a camp and came to Tallahassee earlier this spring as well. How were those experiences like?
A: “I love it more every time I visit, they make me feel welcomed and at home every time that I visit.”
Q: When you look at a team like Florida State, what stands out to you about them?
A: “The difference I’ve seen from Florida State and other schools is that it is like a big family and they always make you feel welcomed.”
Q: With living in Pensacola, do you value staying in the state of Florida? What matters most to you when picking the school of your choice?
A: “Not necessarily, but I don’t want to go too far. What matters to me the most is my bond with the coaches, who can get me to the next level, and who makes me feel at home”
Q: Do you have any plans to come back to Tallahassee in the future? Maybe for a game in the fall?
A: “Yeah, I might be back later in the summer and for some game days in the fall.”
