Brentford are now an established Premier League club under Thomas Frank’s stewardship.
The Bees have made a positive start to the new campaign having taken 10 points from a possible 21, leaving them in 11th place.
Frank’s men have had to contend with the departure of Ivan Toney but that’s not had too much of a negative in fact so far.
In fact, others have stepped their game up a level and one of Brentford’s key players is now attracting interest from across the division.
Premier League clubs interested in Brentford’s Christian Norgaard
TBR Football can reveal that a number of Brentford’s Premier League rivals are looking closely at their captain Christian Norgaard.
The 30-year-old Danish international arrived in West London in a deal worth £2m in 2019 and has become a key figure for the club playing over 150 league games.
Norgaard’s current deal is due to expire next summer, although Brentford also hold a one-year option to extend it.
Preliminary talks have already taken place and The Bees are yet to make an offer to Norgaard over a new deal, and TBR understands there is growing interest in the Dane.
TBR Football can reveal that despite Norgaard being 30 – the prospect of landing him is appealing.
We can confirm that a number of clubs in England are keen, but there are also clubs in Italy and Germany closely following him.
Christian Norgaard statistics
Norgaard, who Thomas Frank absolutely loves and hailed as the ‘glue’ for Brentford (BBC Sport), has really impressive underlying numbers.
As per FBref, Norgaard ranks in the top one per cent for interceptions per 90 compared to his positional peers across Europe.
Further, he sits in the top nine per cent for blocks, further amplifying his outstanding defensive knowhow at the base of midfield.
Brentford must do everything they can to retain his services.
