Fabrizio Romano provides update on Ivan Toney’s future amid Tottenham links

Fabrizio Romano has said that Tottenham target Ivan Toney will not make a decision on his future until the Euros are done.

Spurs are looking at Ivan Toney this summer

Toney has not played a single minute for England at the Euros so far and the striker’s future continues to be the subject of much speculation back home, with the 28-year-old now into the final year of his contract.

Tottenham continue to be named as one of the leading contenders for the centre-forward’s signature, with GiveMeSport reporting just a few days ago that he is one of the North London club’s top targets.

However, the report explained that Spurs are only willing to spend £45m on the centre-forward while Brentford are continuing to demand £60m for his services.

Interstingly, Football.London’s Alasdair Gold suggested on Tuesday that Spurs have played down suggestions of a potential move for the England international.

Ivan Toney will wait until after the Euros

Romano has now revealed that there have been no concrete approaches for Toney so far and that the striker is not expected to make a decision on his future for a few more weeks.

When asked when and where the Brentford star is expected to move to this summer, the journalist said on the Debrief podcast: “I think because of the Euros. I don’t think anything will happen before the end of the Euros for Ivan Toney.

“Also because he is 100 per cent focused on the English national team. Also Brentford wait to see what happens in terms of proposal, but at the moment nothing is concrete on the table yet.”

Given that Toney is not likely to kick a ball in this summer’s tournament, one would think he would be ready to sort out his future in the meantime.

Perhaps Spurs and the striker’s other suitors are waiting for the Bees to drop their asking price before making an approach.
