Brighton & Hove Albion have a strong reputation as one of the best producers of talent in the Premier League, and Liverpool know that better than anyone.
The Reds splashed out £35m last summer to sign Alexis Mac Allister from the Seagulls with Brighton also selling on the likes of Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella and Ben White for huge fees to other Premier League clubs.
With Brighton spending the second-most out of any team in Europe this summer, there’s a real chance that the Amex Stadium side could have to offload another star player or two if they’re to fund their impressive squad overhaul this window.
And Troy Deeney now thinks Liverpool could end up signing one of Brighton’s star players next year.

Liverpool tipped to move for Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke
Writing for BBC Sport, the former Watford captain made the claim that a club like Liverpool could end up moving for Jan Paul van Hecke, who this season has been quite the sensation for Brighton under new manager Fabian Hurzeler.
The 24-year-old defender this month made his debut for the Netherlands with Van Hecke quickly becoming a key player for this new-look Brighton side, who after this weekend sit sixth in the Premier League standings with zero defeats.
With Liverpool in the market for a potential replacement for Virgil van Dijk, Van Hecke would make a lot of sense given his young age and Premier League experience, with the defender also now playing alongside the Anfield captain for Holland.
And Deeney thinks Van Hecke could end up at Liverpool, with the pundit writing: “He’s wonderful on the ball, looks so calm and composed. I think he’ll be the one they end up selling next year to someone like Liverpool. He’s naturally left-footed and never looks flustered.”
Van Hecke could secure major Premier League transfer in 2025
Van Hecke has always shown signs of promise at Brighton, yet it’s this season where the 24-year-old Dutch international’s talents have finally come to the forefront for Premier League supporters.
And as is the way in Brighton, there is a real chance that Van Hecke could secure a major move to a top Premier League side in 2025, whether it be to Liverpool or an equivalent rival in the division.
A physical specimen with exceptional ability on the ball, Van Hecke has all the tools needed to become a top defender in the Premier League, and Liverpool could be where the centre-back calls home depending on what happens with Van Dijk.
